Starting at the end of 2023, Ubiquiti started rolling out Remote Access support for various devices that work with the UISP Application, including EdgeRouter, EdgeSwitch, UISP Routing and Switching and more.
This feature allows for remote access to the web interface of the device, without any port forwarding, VPNs or tunnels. It simply uses a proxy service on the UISP Application and allows access for more complex configuration.
Which devices are compatible with remote access?
As of writing, the following devices can be used with this feature:
EdgeRouter (3.0.0-rc.5 and later)
UISP Switch, UISP Switch Plus and UISP Switch Pro (1.8.0 or later)
UISP Router, UISP Router Pro and UISP Console (5.0.0-rc.1 and later)
EdgeSwitch 10XP and EdgeSwitch 10X (Works on 1.9.0, unclear when it was added)
EdgePower (Added with UISP 2.4.170)
Which version of UISP is needed?
At the very minimum, the first version that added this feature was 2.4.93, released in April 2024. Although, to make sure you don't have any compatibility issues, it is recommended to run a more up to date version.
Are there any known issues?
As of December 2024, there is an issue with UISP 2.4.170 and EdgeRouter 3.0.0-rc.9 where if you try to log in via the Remote Access feature, it says Bad Request after entering in the credentials. It must be said that all versions of EdgeRouter 3.0.0 are in beta and should not be used in production.
