If you don't have a PoE Switch to power various devices such as UniFi APs, UniFi Protect cameras or any other device, you can use a UniFi PoE Injector to get the device powered up. This is most typical in installations where there is one UniFi AP and no need for a UniFi PoE Switch.

Most UniFi devices come with a PoE injector in the box. There a few different types of injector depending on the type of device you are powering.
How to connect up the PoE Injector
The UniFi PoE injector has two Ethernet ports, one with a lightning bolt and one with two arrows like this: <~~>
The port with the lightning bolt is for PoE out and will got to the device you are powering. The <~~> is for LAN and will got to to network device, such as a router or switch.
Even though auto-sensing PoE standards will only output PoE when using a PoE switch, the PoE output on PoE injectors is technically passive (always active). Be mindful about plugging non-PoE devices into the PoE port as this can damage them.
What type of PoE Injector do I need?
