Ubiquiti recently had an issue with the UISP Application related to the Geomagnetism module which affected the system from booting up correctly. If you are hosting UISP with HostiFi, we fixed this issue ourselves pretty quickly. If you want to get the full technical rundown of what the issue was, see our post on X here.

If you want fast and reliable UISP hosting, check out HostiFi with fast support, regular backups, managed updates and prices from just $9 per month.

However, if you aren't hosting with HostiFi and are using the UISP Console, then you need to do some extra work to fix it.

UISP Console with SSH access

SSH into the device's CLI and run:

/mnt/ssd/unms/app/unms-cli update

UISP Console without SSH access

  • Make sure you have a backup of your UISP Console application on your SD card (please note that the SD card uses the ext4 filesystem).

  • Please ensure that your UISP mobile app is the latest possible version and that you are opted in for beta FW.

  • Perform a factory reset of the device. This will delete all data, so a good backup is critical.

  • Use the UISP mobile app to go through the initial wizard.

  • When the FW upgrade is offered, you need to update your UISP Console to the latest beta FW version 5.2.0-rc.3. This is a critical step to prevent the infinite preparing status!

  • When asked for a hostname, the UISP Console, use the same one that you have now.

  • Restore the backup from the SD card or upload the backup file from an external file system and then restore it from the UISP GUI.

  • If this process does not help, please try it once more. It should work the second time.
