TP-Link Omada is pretty similar to UniFi from Ubiquiti in a number of ways. But there are plenty of differences, and we'll explore the most common questions here.

What is Omada?

Omada from TP-Link is a software-defined-networking (SDN) application, which HostiFi has started hosting in early 2023. Much like UniFi from Ubiquiti, there are a wide range of wireless access points, PoE network switches and gateways that can be managed from a single pane of glass, from anywhere in the world.

How do I adopt devices?

All Omada devices have a local GUI, even the wireless access points - which makes adoption pretty easy. For L3 deployments, such as HostiFi, you can log into the devices direct and enter in the inform URL (The inform URL can be found from your portal, at app.hostifi.com).

Omada is pretty similar to UniFi, are the two comparable?

Omada has not been out for anywhere near as long as UniFi. Ubiquiti introduced UniFi back in 2013, whereas TP-Link launched Omada in 2017. Both systems have their pros and cons, for example the price to entry with Omada is much lower than with UniFi. The product lines are fairly comparable, but TP-Link has a wider product line for routing hardware that can be used with Omada.

What is the pricing for Omada with HostiFi?

Pricing is the same as our other controllers, at $99/month for 250 devices scaling up to a server that meets your needs.

If I need help with Omada hardware, can someone at HostiFi help me?

Of course! For any issues with getting your Omada controller up and running, our helpful support team will be happy to help and for something more advanced, we have HostiFi Pro - with a team dedicated to complex deployments so we have something for everyone.

What is the service port?

Service port is :8043
